PRODUCTION
The steel industry is the second largest user of coal. Coal and Iron are essential raw materials used in the production of steel, which is one of the most useful metal products known to man.
Coking Coal is used as a fuel to melt iron in furnaces to produce cast iron which in turn is further refined to produce steel. Coking Coal is a solid carbonaceous residue derived from low-ash, low-sulphur bituminous coal.
Coal is classified into four main types, or ranks: Anthracite, bituminous, subbituminous, and lignite. Anthracite is the highest rank of coal and contains the highest carbon content. It is known for its high energy content and low moisture and ash content. Bituminous coal, on the other hand, has a lower carbon content but is still widely used due to its relatively high energy output. Subbituminous coal has a lower carbon content and is often used for electricity generation. Finally, lignite is the lowest rank of coal with the lowest carbon content and highest moisture content. It is commonly used in power plants.
Today, coal plays a crucial role in the electricity industry as it is primarily used for power generation. One valuable byproduct of coal is coke, which is obtained through pyrolysis. This derivative serves various purposes and is widely utilized in industries such as steel production. At Global Commodities 28, we understand the significance of coal and its derivatives, and we strive to cater to the requirements of global buyers seeking reliable and sustainable energy solutions.
